Horizons club was formed in 2000 with the idea of promoting social interaction and service between students with special needs and their general education peers at Houston High School. This club allows for students to participate in fun filled monthly meetings while beginning to foster new friendships in the process. Meeting take place each month. The following are examples of activities that take place during the meetings:
* 901 Rock Painting-Each student paints a rock, Which is delivered to faculty and staff throughout GMSD
* Valentine's Cards for nursing home residents
* Field Day -A DAY OF FUN FOR ALL- Field day is the largest event for Horizons members and is one that is sure to put a smile on everyone's face. Each April, the members of Horizons participate in a day fulfilled day led with games, races, and team competition. We encourage and invite parents, Houston PTSO members, and other community volunteers to join us for this exciting day!
